This summer, the hills of Appalachia will echo with the sounds of banjos, fiddles, and joyful voices as the annual Bluegrass Festival returns to Pine Valley Park. Organizers are expecting record crowds after several years of smaller events due to the pandemic.
“It’s more than music,” says festival coordinator Sarah McKnight. “It’s a chance for families and neighbors to connect.”
The festival features a lineup of regional talent, including rising stars and local favorites. Food trucks will serve Appalachian classics like fried green tomatoes, barbecue, and homemade pies.
For many, the event is a treasured tradition. Volunteers work tirelessly to set up stages, decorate, and welcome visitors. The craft tent is also a highlight, showcasing quilts, woodwork, and pottery from local artisans.
Kids can enjoy face painting, games, and storytelling sessions, while adults tap their toes to fast-picking tunes.
“I’ve been coming since I was a little girl,” says local resident Emily Roberts. “It’s a time when the whole community feels like family.”
The festival runs from Friday through Sunday, with proceeds supporting local schools and community programs. Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs, sun hats, and dancing shoes.
